Sustainable is a buzzword that’s increasingly doing the rounds of fashion circles. I
first came across this word while doing a story on Fair Trade Organisation for
Apparel magazine a few years ago. I met the CEO of Shop for Change, Seth
Petchers and what he told me about sustainability in fashion opened a new vista
for me. Since then I have been following this movement (I prefer the word
‘movement’ to ‘trend’) closely. The way sustainable fashion affects the entire chain
of apparel making – right from cotton farming to the end consumer – it is definitely
something that needs in-depth understanding. This though led me into writing
about sustainability in fashion on Thechicthing.in.
In India, sustainability acquires multiple undertones. For us, it’s not just about
organic cotton and chemical-less processing, it’s also about encouraging the use
of indigenous textiles and Indian craftsmanship. The concept of sustainable
fashion in India encompasses ecological, social and economical verticals.
On this blog you will get to know all that’s trending in the space of sustainable
fashion. If you want to make a change with what you wear, not only to yourself but
to the world around you, too, keep reading Thechicthing.in.
